
I never had much interest in flowers before (unless it was edible or connected with something edible), but these are interesting… We found them in a backwoods river valley and were sure they were a bizarre fungal fruiting body.

We took pictures to aid in identification and would be shocked to find out they are not fungi at all, but a flowering plant! This may well be the first flower that I can genuinely say I like, even though I can’t eat it…
