Something like the sequel to the Beavertail paddle from the other day.

The blade is 29″ long and 5.5″ wide, wide a total area of 130 sq in. This one I based on several other designs but tweaking towards my own agenda. It has a slightly lower surface area than the beavertail, giving my wife a wee bit more control (as she typically paddles from the stern of our canoe).
The design makes it an awesome flat water bow paddle, complimenting the beavertail well. It is a good choice also for traditional solo paddling or even stern paddling on flat water. It is not a fast water paddle at all!

This paddle is a solid piece of walnut as well, and is also finished in tung oil.
The grip is a basic pear grip, in retrospect I somewhat wish I had made this one to have a grip like the one on the beavertail. I also would have liked the shaft a touch shorter for most of my purposes.

sweet looking piece of wood….and I’m not talkin about my knob!
